Get a Freelancer

This is possibly the most popular freelancing site on the Internet at the moment. I personally use this more than any other at the moment as I find it the easiest to navigate and the most lucrative.

Anyone can join Get a Freelancer either as a service provider or as a service buyer. As a buyer you will post your project and set your budget and outline your project, then service providers will then bid on your project. You then have the choice of which provider you choose to do your project.

As a service provider you have the choice of many projects to bid on. You choose what you want to work for and how soon you can have the project done. Depending on your bid you may or may not be chosen.

It's a really simple process and I find the majority of my work through this site. The problem with these types of freelancing sites is that there are always lots of people willing to do the work for a pittance.

Never bid lower than you feel comfortable working for, the service buyers want quality work and the majority of them are willing to pay good money for quality work.

Lots of different types of freelancers can find work on Get a Freelancer:

  • Writers
  • Proofreaders
  • Web Designers
  • Legal Advisers
  • Telemarketers

This is a very small selection of categories for workers on Get a Freelancer.

You can be a gold member and pay $12 per month or a non gold member and pay $5 every job you accept.

I started out as a non member and after a few projects paid for the membership. It pays to be a member as you pay zero commision on projects you accept. Otherwise you lose the first $5 of every project.

Please, please, please get any money for projects you do in escrow from the buyer first. There is a feedback system on GAF that usually works very well, however a few scammers slip through the net. The buyer puts the money in escrow before you start working, then after completion you can cancel the payment from your end or the buyer can release the money to you.

Try it out and let me know how you get on! I would love to hear your experiences good or bad with Get a Freelancer!
